About Us

Starr's Studio of Dance was established in December 2012.  The studio had it's start on the campus of the South Kent School until our current location in Kent, CT opened.  We are thrilled and look forward to welcoming you to our new home!

Below is more information about Starr and her vision for the new studio. We hope to see you soon. We hold classes everyday except Sunday!

Starr's teaching method focuses on creativity, passion, and learning.  Her students have gone on to do great things!  The studio offers a strong curriculum in dance and creative movement, and helps to build skills that will last a lifetime.  Class offerings include: Ballet, Hip-Hop, Tap, Jazz, Irish, and Lyrical Acrobatics, with new offerings on the way!

The Pre-Ballet/Tap/ Jazz program for 2-4 year olds offers a combination of all three learning techniques, and allows the kids to grow in three fields at once.  The studio is one of the very few that will accept 2 year olds.

Starr Jeffreys, the founding instructor/choreographer, has been dancing since the age of 2 years old.  She is originally from Huntsville, Alabama.  Starr is classically trained in everything she currently teaches:  Jazz, Tap, Pre-Ballet, Hip- Hop, Tumbling, and Lyrical Acrobatics.  She has worked in workshops with Cirque du Soleil, as well as being a title holding figure skater, and toured with Disney on Ice.  She trained with Ann's Studio of Dance in Alabama and was on the competitive team for over 6 years.  The competition team grew and provided Ann's with exciting opportunities such as performing on Carnival Cruise Lines and a trip to Japan!  Starr continued on at Ann's as a teacher for 2 years before moving to NYC.

Starr's focus shifted to her acting career when living in New York City.  She appeared in hit television shows including Gossip Girls, The Beautiful Life, and Rescue Me, among others.  Trained in acting by the famous Neighborhood Playhouse Drama School in NYC, Starr is an active member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and AFTRA, as well as the Broadway union, Equity.  She is also a substitute teacher on file at Broadway Dance Center.

Her acting career took her on a constant loop from Boston, to New York, and back again.  She finally settled in CT working at local studios in Brookfield and New Milford, and eventually starting her own studio in Kent.  Starr in 2013 completed her goal of finishing her Bachelor's degree in Marketing at Post University. She has decided to continue her education by pursuing her Masters at Post University.

Starr has been teaching for 6 years and is adamant about not teaching a style she is not personally versed in.  This means the students will get the best training possible!

Starr's vision for the program is to continue in the tradition of her Alabama home studio, building an outstanding competition program in the area of Kent, CT.  She is excited to start this journey and to welcome your family to the studio.

Please call or email us if you have any questions. We hope to meet you soon, and extend a personal thanks for taking the time to read about our studio and for caring about your child's dance future!

All the best from,
